Picnic at the Pumpkin Patch

Thursday, October 21, 2010

Just as we did last year, Jack and I met Emory, Watson, and Amy at the Pumpkin Patch for a picnic and to play! Callie and Erin couldn’t make it this year-baby Chloe is only three days old!! I’m sure they’ll make it next year! Jack-20 months, Emory-3, Watson-13 monthsimageThey ate their lunch and snacks first, image and then they were off to play with all the pumpkins!!image image imageimage imageThese two were having a great time chasing each other and playing together-imageso much so that Jack had to take a water break!imageAww-look at these two!! I’m so thankful that Jack has such sweet friends!imageBefore we knew it, it was time to say goodbye. Jack gave Watson the sleeper hold a hug and we loaded up the cars to go take naps.imageThanks for the picnic, Duprees! We love our little Pumpkin Patch tradition and look forward to playing again, soon! Fall is so fun!! image

Twenty Months Old

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

Wow!  That sounds so much older than nineteen months!  You just keep growing and changing, and you continue to amaze your daddy and me every day!  You’re the sweetest little thing and give the best tight hugs and baby kisses.  You often come up to us and say, “I hug” with your arms wide open!  Love it!  And you’ll even hug my belly when we point to it and tell you who’s in there.  The other night after you hugged my belly, you tried to push it up to me and said, “Mommy, you hug”.  We still don’t think you know there’s an actually baby in there, but it’s fun none the less!imageAs you can see from your 20 Month Old pictures, you are a golfer right now!  You tell us, “I golfer!  Daddy golfer!!  Jacky hit it!  Daddy hit it!”  As soon as you wake up, you look for your clubs, and you pretty much carry one-or more-around with you.  And your focus is intense!  It’s so cute to watch you keep your eye on the ball and swing at it until you hit it.  Once you do, you get so excited!!  Which of course makes us smile!  You also really like “footballp”, and you tell us when it’s on TV or when you want to “shrow it.”imageCheck out that face!  Persistence and focus are good qualities to have, so keep at it little one!image One of my most favorite things you’ve started doing this past month is having conversations with us.  You tell us what you did at school, what you want to eat-you tell us a lot!  Two recent conversations:  “I paint.  (Ms.) Guitry helped. (What did you paint, Jack?)  I paint paper.  Mess.  Guitry clean it!” and “Guitry said sit down.  I eat pizza, drink milk!  All gone!”imageI love it!  I’m so glad you like to tell us what you did at school, and I had to write it down.  I’m sure one day when I ask what you did at school or what you learned, you’ll say “nothing”, so I’m thankful you’re a chatter box now!imageYou say new words every day and will repeat most everything we ask you to say.  We love to hear you say elephant and octopus!  As we’re driving, you’ll tell us everything you see-bus, truck, car-and you tell us “I drive it!” while making the turning-the-steering-wheel-back-and-forth hand motion.  It’s the cutest thing!  You’re also talking a lot about your friends and your favorite things.  The other night as we started to pray, we were thanking God for daddy, and mommy, and Jack, and baby brother.  Then you stopped me and wanted to thank God for the vacuum and the airplane!  And you’ve asked to thank God for Uncle Doug (who’s always included anyway!!) and Hane and Lucy, too!  So sweet!image You still love to read and know exactly which book you’d like at the time.  Some favorites-your Bible, the Llama, Llama books, Pat the Bunny, and the Eric Carle books that let you match the words to the pictures.  You can’t do the matching part yet, but you love to tell us what each picture is!image You’re a great eater-most of the time (sometimes you’re just way too busy to bother eating)-and you’re pretty much done with your highchair.  You prefer to eat at the table and are just starting to ask to drink from a cup-not a sippy cup.  I’m not quite ready to move to that yet, buddy!  Where is my little t-tiny!?!image It’s no secret that you think you’re daddy is the coolest thing, and I hope I’m showing you that I do too!!  It absolutely melts my heart to watch your face light up when you see him, hear you say daddy with such excitement, and watch the two of you wrestle-although sometimes this scardy-cat mommy has to look away from the rough housing!  I guess I better get use to that, huh!?

You’re an absolute joy, Jack-a-Roo!  We’re so thankful for you and your good health and so thankful to be your daddy and mommy!

We love you more than words can say!

Halloween Playgroup

Jack has some fun Halloween/Fall plans these next two weeks, and today was the first one.  Astronaut Price invited him over for a costume playgroup!  All the little ones looked so cute and seemed to have a great time!image Bumble Bee Katherine was there, image Flower Fairy Mary Mac came to play, imageimageand Pumpkin Hammond and sweet little Piggy Avery were as cute as can be!  I missed pictures of a few of the kids, but they were all adorable!image Our little Monkey enjoyed himself and especially his teddy graham snacks!  “Punkin!  Punkin, mommy!  More, more, pease!!”image imageWe tried to get a group shot-yeah right!  Good try, mommies! imageimage Thanks for having us over to play, Price!  What a great way to break in our costumes!image

The Pumpkin Patch-take one

Sunday, October 17, 2010

After a busy morning and a marathon nap, we headed to the Trenholm Road United Methodist Church’s Pumpkin Patch to find our pumpkins!  This has been one of my favorite fall traditions since Mark and I started going while we were dating-Jack wasn’t as excited.  I think he was still groggy from his nap because he wasn’t in to it like I thought he’d be.  image But he and daddy checked out a few potential winners, imageimageand he started to warm up a bit.image He did a good job walking through, and over, lots of pumpkins, imageimageand even picked out his pumpkin, imagebut in the end, he had to put it back.  We (along with many other patch goers!) didn’t realize they had closed early for the evening!  That’s ok-we’ll have better luck when we try again!imageBy the way-don’t be confused when you see the pictures for take two!  I made him the same longall he wore in last year’s Pumpkin Patch pictures, and I didn’t get the great picture I was hoping for this try-so same longall for another attempt!  I’m cheesy like that!

This is what happens…

Little friends

Saturday, October 16, 2010

After a fun day with Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Lindsey, and Kendall (9 month pictures of my sweet niece to come!) and a nice nap, Jack had some friends over to play while the Gamecocks played footballp (as Jack calls it!).image Eva and Anna came over, image imageand Hane and John Lewis came to play, too! image Jack played golf {with his baseball bat},imageimage ran around with Eva,image played on the slide and wrestled with Hane.imageI wish I would have gotten more pictures of the kids playing, but Jack and Hane are WILD together, so Anna and I were having fun keeping up with them! Even though the game didn’t end how we would have liked, we enjoyed spending time with friends!

Waiting for daddy

Friday, October 15, 2010

Jack LOVES Mark!  He wants to play with him, sit by him, and do whatever daddy’s doing.  If Jack’s not with his daddy, he’s asking for him or talking about him. (Daddy, golfer?  Daddy, work?  Daddy, pony?  Daddy go?)  So, because the weather was beautiful today, we played out front and waited for daddy to come home!

Jack visited with the ghosts and played in the dirt, but he kept an eye on the road in case daddy pulled up!image imageimageHis pants are a bit too big, oops!, but he’s good at keeping them pulled up-while watching for daddy.  And of course he still has fun with his mommy!!imageAnd then the moment he was waiting for-daddy’s HOME!! image Yay!!!  What silly boys!image Jack NEVER wants to go inside, but tonight he did!  I guess he got what he wanted from outside, his daddy!!image
