My Second Love

Thursday, April 30, 2009

His daddy's my first love, but coming in at a very close second-this angel face! I continue to thank God that he's ours. Him, really? We were chosen to be his parents?! How grateful are we!
He was playing in the bouncy seat this afternoon, and I caught a shot of his new thing-blowing bubbles! I know, you have to look closely, but they're there!
I love that when he sneezes, it takes his entire little body.
And those toes-I just love those toes!
I'm in love, love, love!

Grand Rapids-Day Two

On our first full day in GR, Jack met more Wiersma's and many of Grandma and Grandpa Great's friends down at coffee.  He's pretty much stayed in his regular routine, too!

He quickly decided that he likes to be in Grandma Great's arms.  With six children of her own, twenty grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, she knows how to make a baby happy!
He had fun talking to and smiling at Grandma and Grandpa Great. We went over to Aunt Nancy and Uncle Dan's for supper, so he met Uncle Dan, Peter, and Michael.  Paul was in Colorado, so we missed him!  I think Jack is going to be tall like my Wiersma family-these two boys are a great example of that gene!
After Sylvie's orchestra concert, the Tim Wiersma's stopped over, so Jack was able to meet Uncle Tim!
I even let him stay up passed his bed time so these sweet girls could love on him.  It's his vacation too, right?!
We'll see what tomorrow has in store for this little man!

Kate's Mom

Please keep Max, Wes, Kate, and Mark in your prayers-Kate's mom passed away yesterday.  Mark writes that she was very peaceful and comfortable, so we can thank God for that-and His promise that she is now completely healed.

Grand Rapids, Michigan-home away from home

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

Jack and I boarded a plane this morning for his first plane ride, met up with mom in Atlanta, and headed to Michigan!  I asked the stewardess for some wings, but no luck-she said they don't offer those anymore.  He was a complete angel during both flights making his mommy so proud!

My parents both grew up in Grand Rapids, so we spent many Christmases and summers up here.  It's so special to me to bring Jack to see this wonderful place, not to mention to meet my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins!

Grandma Great could not WAIT to get her hands on this little boy, and he did not disappoint-he gave her some smiles pretty quickly!
Grandpa Great got some snuggles, too!  This is who Jack got his middle name from-I know he'll learn a lot from grandpa in these few days we'll spend together!
Jack loved all the attention from Aunt Libby and the girls-Abby, Sylvie, and Lisi!  Sylvie even got out of school a tad early to come over and meet the little man!
Her boys were all busy tonight, so Aunt Nancy made a solo trip to meet Jack.  Aunt Nancy, I think you have the boy touch {she has three of her own!}-he talked up a storm when you were holding him!
Our fun in Grand Rapids has just begun, and we're super excited to be here!  We miss Mark tons already, but know he's in good hands, too!  We hope you're having a great time at the beach, babe-see you soon!

It's Lake Season!

Saturday, April 25, 2009

We woke up to a beautiful morning today, and decided it was the perfect day to take Jack on his first boat ride! So we packed a bag and headed to Lake Murray for our first lake adventure of the season.

We tried his life vest on him, and it was as big as he is!! He wasn't much of a fan!Take it off, and there's a little grin!He learned all about how to drive the boat from his daddy, and how to enjoy the ride from his mommy! The beautiful breeze and the rocking waves put him right to sleep, and of course I loved that it was in my arms!It was a shorter trip than most days on the lake, mommy didn't pack very well, but Jack did great and seemed to enjoy it-we sure did! We look forward to many more adventures together as a family!

He Laughed!!

Thursday, April 23, 2009

Mark finished changing Jack's diaper and was talking to him and making funny faces at him, and then he did it-he laughed! A big laugh that I heard from the kitchen! That's right, I missed it, but I'm glad he laughed first for his daddy. What a sweet sound it was!!

Isabelle and Lawson's Visit

Isabelle and Sallie and Lawson and Brice came over for a visit today. It was so great to meet little Isabelle for the first time and see Lawson again! I hate that I didn't have my camera out when Lawson was here-Brice you'll have to come back over!!

Sallie, we're glad you came by while you were in Columbia, and we hope to see you at the beach soon!

Sweet boy,

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

I love to kiss your cheeks and nose and neck and hands. I love to look into your eyes wondering if they'll stay deep blue and see you smiling back at me. I love to cuddle with you while you're sleeping in my arms. I love the way you smile at your daddy-that melts my heart! I love that you have such a big smile. You give us a big open mouth grin and the happiest little eyes I have ever seen! I love to pick you up out of your carrier-your little legs are still all curled up! I love your little baby toes.Jack-a-Roo, I just love being your mommy!

Two Months Old-

Monday, April 20, 2009

-and cooing,
and making silly faces,
and smiling, and stealing his daddy and mommy's hearts!! Happy two month birthday, Jack!! We love you more than ever!

Two Month Well Check

We took Jack in for his well check today exactly on his two month birthday. Unfortunetly for him {and his mommy!} that meant shots-not a very fun birthday!!He was a good boy for Dr. Trey, and we are very happy to report that he is healthy, healthy! We're so thankful! He received one vaccine orally, and then a shot in each leg. Mark held his arms and I turned my back. He let out a wail after each shot, but Mark had him, and me, smiling before we left the room! He did so well!

Erica's Baby Shower

Sunday, April 19, 2009

In anticipation of baby Hunter's arrival, Jen, Amy, Laurie, Mrs. Kathy, Ashley and I hosted a baby shower for Erica down at the beach. She looked absolutely wonderful, of course! She recevied some super cute gifts for Hunter that I'm sure have found their perfect places in his nursery! The grandmothers-to-be were so happy to be in attendance. This is the first grandchild for both of these excited ladies-I know they'll instantly fall in love with the new little guy! It was great to see you both!
The three of us took this same picture at my baby shower, so here's the updated version! Jack is so excited to have two new friends so close to his age! Erica, we are all so, so excited for you, Kris, and your families! Hunter is going to be such a blessing, and we can't wait to meet him! These last four or so weeks are going to fly by, and before we know it, you'll be holding your sweet little boy in your arms!! What a miracle!

Our Eight Week Old

Friday, April 17, 2009

Jack,

You continue to grow, grow, grow right before our eyes-it's hard to believe! We still can't decide who you look like, but people have started to say you look like me. As you change, I think you'll start to look like your daddy, so I know you'll be one good looking little guy!

You are getting really good at holding up your head as we add more and more tummy time into your day. Your little forehead usually wrinkles as you focus on holding up your head, and it's too cute!Your smiles just light us up, and you still love to give them to your daddy!! I think I need to take a shot at catching that precious grin on video when daddy's home, but here was a sweet one you gave me today!

You are still such a great sleeper and still love to be swaddled. I have noticed that your naps are a little shorter, about an hour and a half instead of two hours, and you sleep from 10:30pm to 7am. We are counting our blessings for sure!

We go back to see Dr. Trey on Monday, so we'll know for sure just how much you've grown. We love you more and more each day, Jack a Roo! You are nothing but a joy to us, and we are so very thankful for you!!

We love you!

Bath Time, take three

Thursday, April 16, 2009

We've moved from baths in the baby tub, to baths in the sink, and now back to the baby tub IN the big tub. He loves being in the water and staying warm, and we love the smell of a fresh and clean baby boy!
I can't believe how much he's changed since his first tub bath six weeks ago!

I'm a sucker for a monogram!

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

I'm still loving learning how to sew, and now that I learned how to monogram {thanks Aim!!}, it's even more fun! I didn't monogram either of these outfits myself, Alphabet Soup did the first one and Amy did the second, but I'm ready to try it on my own now. I think it's safe to say that Jack will know his 'Js', 'Rs', and 'Ts' in no time!
I showed Jack his new outfits, and he gave me a smile for all my hard work! Such a polite little boy already!!

Tummy Time

Monday, April 13, 2009

After a beautiful Easter Day, it was pretty yucky outside today, so Jack and I stayed in. Blake gave us this really neat tummy time gym at a baby shower the Bunko girls had for me, so we thought today would be a good day to try it out! He liked it for a little bit, but doesn't yet know that he can reach for all the toys and use his legs to move around. We'll keep trying it though-Blake said Rhys LOVED it!
