So Far, SEW Good!

Tuesday, March 31, 2009

Ha! Sorry, I couldn't help it! :)

I have had a lot of fun learning how to sew, and I really like the final products so far! I made a little bubble with Amy's help, and I made the John John today. I will confess, I stitched wrong side to wrong side and had to use the seam ripper to undo the entire thing! Suffice it to say, I learned my lesson-I won't do that again!
The Bubble-
My favorite little model showing the fabric up close--and a full view. I LOVE those new little baby rolls!
The John John-More to come! I have some blue seer sucker fabric that I want to make a different style John John with, so we'll see!

5 Weeks, plus!

Sunday, March 29, 2009

Really?!?!

We are love, love, loving this little man! The last 5 weeks and 2 days have been amazing, and it just keeps getting better!

First, please look at this boy! He still loves to be swaddled for his naps and at night, and it seems to help him fall asleep. Mark says he looks like a turtle when he's all bundled and he looks around with his little head!
And look at how long he's getting! He has his legs stretched out--that's his little blue socked foot sticking out of the blanket! We're about to have to move nap time out of the moses basket and into the cradle! We went to church for the first time since Jack's birth this morning, and he did great-he slept the entire service! I was nervous that he would wake up for his 10am feeding, we don't get out until about 10:15ish, but he was patient, and waited until we got home. We're baptizing him in two weeks, Easter Sunday, so we hope he's a good boy then, too!

In other news, Jack has slept through the night for three nights now! We're so proud of you, Jack! Of course it's wonderful to get a full night of sleep, but I kind of miss that 2am feeding! I'm sure I'll get over that quickly, but it was such a quiet, sweet time for us, and it's making me think that he's not a newborn anymore!

Sewing 101

Before Jack was even born, I decided that I wanted to learn how to sew so I could make some clothes for our new baby. Well, on Friday, Amy came over to give me my first lesson! We went to the sewing center the week before, so I was well prepared with all of the necessary supplies and fabric for a few sweet baby boy outfits! I learned a lot and almost finished my first bubble-thanks Amy!! Little Em came, too, and, as usually, could not have been any sweeter!

To be continued with the finished products!

The Wiersma Twins are here!

Friday, March 27, 2009

Please take a moment and click on my cousin Mark's link, mkwiersma.blogspot.com, to read about their new baby boys! Max and Wes were born this morning around 2am, and they need your prayers!

Welcome to the world, little ones! You have been blessed with two wonderful parents, and as your daddy asked, we will, "Pray that God hold these little boys tightly in His grasp. He has numbered their days as He has numbered yours and mine. Our prayer as new parents is that those days will outlast ours, but God is in control and we will follow His path in faith knowing that His plan is perfect."

Look who's ready for his first boat ride!

Well, almost. We still need to get some baby sunscreen, a baby life vest, and a cute little shirt to match his little swin trunks. We're looking forward to a great summer!

To Grandmother's House We Go!

Monday, March 23, 2009

Jack and I headed down to Charleston to see my family for the day and get some grandma and grandpa snuggles in!! He was a great traveler, falling asleep when we pulled out of the driveway, and waking up when we got there and it was time to eat!

I don't think my dad was teaching him about technology yet, but you never know! :)
Look at that sweet face! His grandma had him smiling!

He got to meet his Great Aunt Debbie, and we were able to see Aunt Linds for a little bit, too-thanks for coming over! We had a great visit, and we can't wait to see you all again soon!

He Smiles!

Sunday, March 22, 2009

We've seen Jack's smile before, but never as a reaction to us. Well tonight after dinner, he smiled-a lot! And guess who his first real smile was for? His daddy!!
4 weeks, 2 days

I, of course, got my camera out to document this, and he cooed a little bit! Oh, how sweet! I can tell that motherhood is going to keep getting better and better!

Happy Birthday, E!

Happy Birthday, Erica!!  We hope you have a great day and lots of fun with all of your family!

A Saturday Trip

Saturday, March 21, 2009

What a fun day!!

We headed up to Charlotte to meet the Rabbs and the Dowlings for lunch and to visit with all the girlees.  I also got a chance to shop at South Park for a bit-thanks, Mark!

Sarah and Grace were both so sweet to baby Jack!  They're going to be great big sisters in August!!
Abby and Emma were so good with him too!  Abby was playing with his arms and singing to him and had him smiling!!  Good job, Abby!
After she finished holding Jack, Emma read us a Bunny book and CRACKED ME UP!  I laughed so hard I cried!  She has the cutest little personality to match that sweet face!
The girls loved having a real, live baby doll - Jack enjoyed all the attention from the cute girls too!  I missed pictures of everyone else loving on him, including Tippy and Kelsey!, but Jack loved it, and Mark and I are so glad we could spend the day with you all!

You guys are such special friends, and we don't get to see you nearly enough!!  We love you guys!

Bath Time, take two

Jack loves bath time now! We've relocated to the sink in his bathroom, and now he stays warm the whole time. This makes for a very happy boy!

One Month Ago Today-

Friday, March 20, 2009

-we held our first born in our arms for the first time, and fell completely in love with him. We really can't imagine our life now without him in it-he's such a joy! Thank you, God, for this perfect little blessing!
I fell more in love with this man too! Everyone says you'll love your husband even more when you see him as a daddy, and it's so true! He is so great with Jack, and has taken such great care of both of us! I Love You, Mark-thanks for being such a wonderful daddy and husband!

What a View!

Thursday, March 19, 2009

Jack and I went on a walk this afternoon, and here was my view-I love it!!! We both love the Bjorn, he falls asleep almost as soon as I put him in it, and going for a walk on beautiful Columbia days like this one!

Prayers Needed

My cousin, Mark, and his wife, Kate, are almost 24 weeks pregnant with twin boys, and she has gone into pre-term labor.  As of this morning, her contractions have spread out, 25 to 30 minutes apart, so that was good news!  I've added a link to the blog they just started to the side bar, but here it is too.   http://mkwiersma.blogspot.com

Mark, Kate, and the boys are in God's hands, the best place to be, but they need your prayers!  Please visit their site and pray for these boys to grow big and strong!

Happy Birthday, Uncle Joey!!

We hope you have a great day full of hugs and kisses from your girls!
Love,
Mark, Michelle, and Jack

Daddy Time

Monday, March 16, 2009

Mark gave Jack his first bottle since the hospital tonight. He didn't love it but he didn't hate it either. We'll practice every night at his 7pm feeding to get him used to it-hopefully he'll love it soon!

OSU

Sorry, dad! I think he's a Buckeyes fan, too!

The Thomas' came to visit yesterday and brought this bib for Jack. At least it's still the Big Ten, right?!

Thanks, Aunt Linds!

Doesn't it look like Jack is making the same face as his new froggy friend?!Thanks, Aunt Linds! I love him!
Love,
Jack

Hilarious!

So the Estes' and the Goddards have already agreed to an arranged marriage between Eva and Noah. He fondly calls her Vavee, and she loves Noah!

Tonight we went to the Goddard's for dinner, and to watch the NCAA selection show. The kids played with Noah's toys and then decided that diapers would be fun. Mark was asking if the diapers were mustaches?...no, phones?...no, helmets?...YES! Hilarious! These pictures will be kept for use at a later date-the slideshow at their rehearsal dinner!

Jack's First Lunch Date!

Jack had his first lunch date today. We went to McAlisters with Emory and Amy, and both kids were so good! Jack slept the entire time, and Em was the sweet little girl she always is!
Thanks for lunch, Amy! We can't wait to do it again soon!

A Day of Firsts

Monday, March 9, 2009

Jack and I had a busy day of firsts!!

We started the day off on his activity mat, and he loved it! He really liked the little mirror attachment which I can understand-I love looking at the cute little face, too!
Then we went on our first walk! It felt so good to get my gym shoes on and get a little exercise! What better place to walk to than daddy's office!! We stopped by one time before, but that was for a diaper change-this was his first real visit!!
We are having so much fun exploring his new world together as a family! We can't believe he's already been here for more than two weeks!!

Belated Birthday Celebration

Sunday, March 8, 2009

My family came up from Charleston yesterday for a belated birthday celebration for my dad-although I think it was more to play with Jack! Adam wasn't able to make it this weekend, and we missed him!!

Here's the birthday boy and his grandson-two of my favorite guys! Jack was sleeping for most of their visit, but Aunt Lindsey loved to play with him anyway!Aunt Lindsey and Uncle Ryan
Grandma and Grandpa Singer Three generations in the Singer family!
Thank you all SO much for making the trip up for the day! Dad, we enjoyed celebrating your birthday with you--we're glad you like your picture!! Jack loves the Wolverines already!!

Love,
Mark, Michelle, and Jack

Jack's First Bath!

Saturday, March 7, 2009

After we went to the doctor and confirmed that everything was healed up, we got the ok to give Jack a real bath. I think it was more fun for Mark and me than baby Jack!

He wasn't too sure about it,but he did like having his hair washed! He DOES NOT like to be cold {just like his mommy!}, so he wasn't a happy boy fresh out of the tub.
Once we had him all wrapped up and warm, he was his happy self again and smelled so clean!

Go Blue!!

Sorry, Mr. Thomas! Looks like he's a Michigan fan!!

For those of you who don't know, my dad went to the University of Michigan, and Mr. Thomas went to Ohio State. It's always a fun rivalry around here!

Jack's First Play Date!

Friday, March 6, 2009

After a false alarm call for snow at the beginning of the week, the weather was picture perfect today! Eva and Mary Beth were headed to the zoo and invited us to go along, so we thought it was the perfect opportunity for Jack's first play date!
One of our first stops was the carousel. Eva spotted a "Puma" and decided that had to be her animal of choice! She learned about the puma on Go Diego, Go!, and she can tell you that it says "Meow! Meow!". It's TOO cute! We have the smartest Goddaughter ever!
Here she is saying, "Go Puma!"
Jack was such a good boy and slept through his first visit to the zoo! He loved the Bjorn, and I did too!
Thanks for such a fun play date! We look forward to many more to come!!
